When I was 15, I was Diagnosed with bulimia nervosa /Binge Eating. But that just don’t start there. If we go back in time this starts when I was 13 and it intensified when I was 14,15 and 1st parts of my 16th year. I remember how this starts, when I ask for help, and how I hate so much this situation. I used to hate even more the fact that I apparently couldn’t stop.
This cost me my social life, my relationship with my parents and different aspects of my life that makes my life a hell.
Because I was constantly checking calories on everything and just after finishing my food, a pile of thoughts like “you will be fat” and “omg you eat all of that” immediately come to my mind. My answer was to go throw up everything.
My grandma and mom notice that, but no one do anything about it more than say something like, “stop doing that, I know you only want attention, so stop.”
I remember that one of my friends was going through the same thing and no one talk about this. It was like a secret, and I don’t know how she noticed this behavior on me, and she tried to talk to me. I told her some of the history and she made me promise I would stop. But I just couldn't.
Until last summer I found this place, Huddle. I remember I came for an activity, and I asked about the other services, then I made an appointment with the dietician and the counselor.
There is where my journey start. Today I achieved 250 days without trying to throw up my food or come back to the old habits. This eating disorder changes my life in two senses. Because this mad me have a rough time but also makes me create the best version of myself.
If someone outside is going through something similar I just want to let you know that you are not alone. Ask for help will make you free of what’s trapping you. You are more than weight or size and you owe yourself to have an amazing life because no one has the right or obligation to do the work for you. Its your life, make the most of your life.
